Open Spaces/Wildlife Protections

…If elected Senator, you will have my pledge to support all conservation efforts. There is a necessary balance between offering a reasonable inventory of housing and allowing the degradation of quality of life for our wildlife and our residents. I do not support the “up zoning” policies enacted by the city of Boise, nor do I support the type of “projects” housing developments we see growing around us.

Property Taxes

… paying escalating property taxes (based on assessments impacted by a significant migration to our state) should be eliminated. After 20 years in the same primary residence, these residents have paid into the “funding” mechanisms for services. On balance, it is reasonable to expect newer homeowners to take on that same funding timeline.

Healthcare Concerns

…I am eager to step into the discussion around physician recruitment and the development of the relationship between the University of Utah and Idaho physician recruitment and retention.

Education

My child attended high-performing public schools; my grand children currently attend Idaho public schools, and I volunteer at their school regularly. However, we have many families justifiably concerned with both the stagnant academic performance within various schools and the increase of cultural issues affecting the integrity the curriculum. Currently we have a “tax credit” program which prioritizes two types of families and has a limitation that caps the number of qualified families; I believe we can do better to serve all students, whether within the public schools or private.
